2014 Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship Awards, Australia

Endeavour-Postgraduate-Awards-for-international-students-630x140Each Year, Australian Government funded Endeavour Postgraduate Awards for international students. The awards are offered to undertake a postgraduate qualification at a Master’s or PhD level either by coursework or research in any field of study. The award provides financial support up to 2 years for a master’s and up to 4 years for a PhD. Successful recipients must commence their approved program and Award after 1 January 2014 but no later than 30 November 2014. From the top twenty (20) recipients of the Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship (PhD only), ten students of eligible Asian countries and regions will be offered the Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Postgraduate Scholarship and its additional benefits. Applications close on 30 June 2013.

Study Subject(s): There are no limitations on fields of study for the Award categories.

Eligibility:
-Award Holders must be aged 18 years or over at the commencement of their Award. There is no maximum age limit.
-Applicants who have already commenced or will commence their program at their host organisation prior to 2014 are ineligible to apply
-Award Holders are not permitted to hold any other Australian Government sponsored scholarship.
-Applicants must be citizens and/or permanent residents of a participating country and must not hold dual citizenship with Australia.
-Applicants who currently hold or who have completed an Australia Award after 1 January 2012 are not eligible to apply. Applicants are not eligible to apply in a category in which they have already completed an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship.
-Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree (minimum) at the time of application, demonstrating high academic achievement.
-Applicants must have applied for and gained admission to a Master’s or PhD course in Australia for commencement in 2014.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: The students of following countries can apply for the scholarship. The Caribbean: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago. Europe: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus (Republic of), Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland). Scholarship Description: The Endeavour Postgraduate Award provides financial support for international students for up to 4 years to undertake a postgraduate qualification at a Master’s or PhD level either by coursework or research in any field of study in Australia. The Endeavour Postgraduate Award aims to:
-enable high achieving international students to undertake a postgraduate qualification either by coursework or research in their chosen fields of study in Australia
-strengthen bilateral ties between Australia and the participating countries
-showcase Australia’s education sector
-strengthen mutual understanding between the people of Australia and Award Holders’ home countries, and
-build international linkages and networks.

Duration of award(s): The Endeavour Postgraduate Award provides financial support Up to 2 years for a Master’s and Up to 4 years for a PhD.

What does it cover?
-Travel Allowance: $4,500
-Establishment Allowance: $4,000
-Monthly Stipend: $2,500 per month. Up to 2 years for a Master’s on a pro-rata basis and Up to 4 years for a PhD on a pro-rata basis
-Tuition Fees: $12,500 per semester. Up to 2 years for a Masters and Up to 4 years for a PhD
-Health Insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) will be provided.
-Travel Insurance: Coverage provided for travel to and from Australia, not during.
-Total Value: Up to $118,500 for Master’s and Up to $228,500 for PhD.

Selection Criteria: 
-A record of high-level academic achievement in the applicant’s chosen field of study, (30%);
-A well-defined study and/or research program, (20%);
-A proposal that is relevant to the needs and interests of Australia and the applicant’s home country, (15%);
-The applicant’s potential to foster ongoing collaboration and cooperation with Australia and potential to participate at a high level in the academic or wider community in their home country on return from their program, (20%), and
-Evidence of service to the community. Unpaid service within the applicants’ field of expertise, or unpaid community service in outside capacities, (15%).

Notification: The Department will email all successful and unsuccessful applicants regarding the outcome of their
applications by the end of December 2013. Successful applicants will be required to accept their Award Offers online within 14 days of the offer. Applicants will also be required to sign and return a ‘Declaration of Acceptance’, which is attached to their notification letter, prior to their Award being confirmed. Due to the high volume of applications received, the Department does not provide individual feedback on why an application was unsuccessful. There may be a number of reasons why an application received does not pass through to the next stage.

Upon submission of an application, an email acknowledging receipt of the application will automatically be generated and forwarded to the email address (user ID) used to submit the application.
