Political and Security Issues
ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Blueprint outline that APSC aims to preserve and enhance peace and stability in the region, to strengthen the mutually beneficial relations between ASEAN and its Dialogue Partners and friends, and to promote political development based on the adherence of democracy, the rule of law and good governance and respect for and promotion of human rights. It is expected that in 2015, these goals will be fulfilled by the ASEAN’s member countries. However, there are several challenges that need to be addressed to realize APSC by 2015, such as sea and border disputes, problems of democratization and violation of human rigts in several Southeast Asia countries, and conflict resolution in ASEAN
