Mutti Anggitta in WINS Academy Alumni Newsletter, Fifth Issue
One of the Faculty Members of Bina Nusantara University International Relations Department, Mutti Anggitta, won the essay competition by the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS). The competition was participated by the alumni of WINS online certification program that was held from March 2015 to January 2016. As the winner of WINS essay competition, Mutti has the opportunity to conduct a workshop on nuclear topic held by WINS in London on May 25-27, 2016 with the theme Countering Homegrown Violent Extremism in the Nuclear Sector.
Mutti is currently developing a blog on nuclear security. She is very concerned about Indonesian academicians’ and students’ understanding of nuclear security and nuclear issues in general. Nuclear security as a discipline has not been very popular in Indonesia. In fact, there is no high education institution offering courses on nuclear security. Despite Indonesia having three nuclear reactors for research, the Indonesian government and academicians have not been very aware of the importance of nuclear security education. The blog that Mutti is developing is aimed to spread knowledge on nuclear security to the Indonesian public. To achieve wider audiences target, she plans to make the content of the blog in two languages: bahasa Indonesia and English, and also in two main aspects: the basic science of nuclear and nuclear security policy. Mutti’s concern that nuclear security issues has not been popular is her primary motivation for developing a blog about nuclear security, because she believes that nuclear security is our mutual responsibility.
