IR Binus Goes to Taiwan! First Campus Stop: National Chengchi University
On 9 December 2019, participants of the IR BINUS Immersion Program 2019 got a chance to visit the beautiful National Chengchi University (NCCU). The university was founded in 1927 and is a powerhouse of political and social science education in Taiwan. President Chiang Kai Sek was a co-founder of the university, and it has been known as one of the best universities in the country.
We were warmly greeted and hosted by the International College of Innovation, headed by Prof. Fu Kuo Liu. ICI is the tenth college of NCCU that blends innovation and global governance whose mission is to provide education in Asian Studies and Business and Global Governance. Our Department has built a great relationship with Prof. Liu over the years, and he was the supervisor of our Head of Department, Rangga Aditya Ph.D. – a valuable ties which have solidified our collaboration in this immersion program.
Prof. Liu shared his expertise in Taiwan’s defense, security, and political situations, particularly in its relationship with the United States and mainland China. Due to the relevance of these topics to the International Relations study, participants asked relevant questions and had a fruitful discussion at NCCU.
