The Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) runs a routine teaching program. The program is called the FPCI Ambassadorial Lecture. This program collaborates with the European Union (EU).

The discussion is open to FPCI Chapters and foreign policy activists. In addition, it is open to the general public. Interested parties can learn about Indonesia-EU bilateral relations.

Virtual Event on Vaccines and Global Recovery

On January 26, 2021, FPCI held the first episode of the year. The event was conducted virtually via Zoom.

The title was “EU: COVID-19, Vaccines, Recovery, and International Cooperation.” The main speaker was H.E. Vincent Piket. He is the EU Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.

FPCI Chapter BINUS University attended the event. They were part of the FPCI Chapters network. FPCI BINUS helped ensure the activity’s success. Specifically, they sent over 35 International Relations students.

EU’s International Cooperation and Vaccine Strategy

Students learned about the EU’s COVID-19 response. Furthermore, they studied vaccine distribution efforts in Europe. These efforts were based on international cooperation principles.

Ambassador Piket also explained EU-Indonesia cooperation. Consequently, this cooperation aims at economic recovery from COVID-19.

The Ambassadorial Lecture offered more than just teaching. Participants had a chance to ask the Ambassador questions directly. Questions were relevant to the discussion topic. They could ask via chatbox or by opening their microphones.

Rejecting Vaccine Nationalism

The episode highlighted vaccine distribution. This was discussed as both a global effort and a challenge.

The European Union rejects the idea of vaccine nationalism. Moreover, the EU needs support from Indonesia and all nations. Mutual assistance is crucial. Therefore, the world can overcome the pandemic together.
