[Webinar] New Development in the Cyber-Technologies: The Urgency of Strengthening the Indonesian National Cybersecurity
On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, the International Relations Department of Bina Nusantara University (BINUS) organized a webinar on “New Development in the Cyber-Technologies: The Urgency of Strengthening the Indonesian National Cybersecurity”. The webinar gathered eminent speakers and scholars engaged in the cybersecurity issues and cyber-technologies development.
Rangga Aditya, Ph.D., Head of the International Relations Department, gave welcome remark at the webinar, while our faculty members, Curie Maharani Savitri, Ph.D. and Ella Syafputri Prihatini, Ph.D. acted as moderator and MC, respectively.
The first speaker was Brig. Gen. Iroth Sonny Edhie, Commander of the Indonesian Army Crypto and Cyber Operation Center (Danpussansiad). Brig. Gen. Iroth talked about cyber threat perspective from the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD).
The second speaker was Talha Aydin, cybersecurity consultant at Privia Security. Mr. Aydin talked about the importance of cybersecurity for national security. He began his presentation on cybersecurity as a dimension of national security, cyber warfare, cyber armies, and concluded with government espionage cases.
The third speaker was Prof. Man Ki Kim, professor at KAIST College of Business. Prof. Kim talked about cybersecurity strategy of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). He began his presentation on the Biden administration’s Interim National Security Strategic Guidance, the U.S. DoD Cyber Strategy released in 2018, the cyberspace operations doctrine issued in 2018, the U.S. Cyber Command and its roles, and concluded with Biden’s Executive Order on Cybersecurity.
The last speaker was Brig. Gen. (R) Jong Il Park, adjunct professor at Dongguk University. Brig. Gen. (R) Park talked about South Korean defense cybersecurity strategy. He began his presentation on South Korean national security strategy, its national cybersecurity strategy, its defense cybersecurity strategy, and concluded with its strategic tasks.
The webinar was held via Zoom platform with more than 100 participants.
