International Relations Lecture Series 81: Global Governance in the era of Digital Democracy and Climate Change

The need for information has become a top priority for global generation. Including the topic of digital democracy that widely discussed by the society lately, and also climate change which already became the concern in the midst of global warming.

Referring to the ideas, International Relations Lecture Series (IRLS) by Binus University was held once again on May 25th, 2022. The discussion about Global Governance in the era of Digital Democracy and Climate Change has become more fascinating as the globalization accelerates. A great discussion is certainly supported by competent speakers. For this IRLS #81 webinar, all the participants got the opportunity to learn directly from the experts, namely Dr. M. Alfan Alfian Mahyudin, M.SI. as the author of “Digital Democracy,” and also Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Muh Aris Marfai, M.Sc., as Head of the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG). As well as Roseno Aji Affandi from as Subject Content Coordinator in International Political Economy and Business Diplomacy Binus University as our moderator for this interesting webinar.

Through the Zoom Meeting and Youtube Live Streaming, around 60 students from Binus University and some participants from other institutions connected to the forum. The webinar was opened by Head of International Relations Department, Rangga Aditya, Ph.D. After the opening remarks, Dr. M. Alfan Alfian Mahyudin, M.SI. delivered his materials about democracy, power disruption, digital individual between privacy and participation, and so on. While Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Muh Aris Marfai, M.Sc. presented about the importance of global climate governance.

The discussion by the speakers was very insightful. Not to mention the energy of participants who actively raised a great question for the speakers which made this forum even more substantial.

After two and a half hours of long discussion, the event continued with the handover of “Digital Democracy” book by Dr. M. Alfan Alfian Mahyudin, M.SI. and also concluded by closing remarks from Prof. Tirta Nugraha Mursitama, Ph.D. It is hoped that IRLS #81 webinar will be beneficial to all participants and International Relations Lecture Series (IRLS) will be continue with other exciting topics and speakers.
