About Bela

Sukmawani Bela Pertiwi is lecturer and subject content specialist for Concepts and Theories in IR at the Department of International Relations, Bina Nusantara University (2015-present). She was also managing editor for Journal of ASEAN Studies (JAS) in 2018. She earned her BA in Political Science from the Department of International Relations, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and her MA in International Affairs from the School of International Studies (SIS), American University in Washington DC. Prior to joining BINUS, she was lecturer at the Department of International Relations, UGM. She was also Chief of Publication and Editor of Indonesian Journal of International Studies (IJIS) at the Institute of International Studies, UGM. She was also researcher at the Center for Southeast Asian Social Studies (CESASS) UGM from 2010-2015. Her research and teaching focus on the broader international politics. She is specifically interested in regionalism particularly in Southeast Asia and Europe, global governance, norm diffusion, territorial disputes, and maritime affairs. She is currently part of Global Governance and the European Union: Future Trends and Scenarios (GLOBE) project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020. Her recent article is published by Andalas Journal of International Studies (AJIS) discussing changes and continuities in the global governance on coronaviruses.
