IR BINUS Best Thesis Award 2022

On Thursday, 13 October 2022, the International Relations Department of Binus University announced the result of Best Thesis Award 2022.

The Best Thesis Award 2022 was an award for the best thesis papers by IR students whose thesis papers were submitted to ICOBIRD 2022.

The result was announced after the keynote session of the 11th International Conference on Business, International Relations, and Diplomacy (ICOBIRD), an annual international conference held by the IR Department.

Best Thesis Award 2022 and the 11th ICOBIRD were also held in commemoration of 10 years of the IR Department, which was established in 2012.

The winners of Best Thesis Award 2022 were:

  1. Champion: Made Wirawan, with thesis paper entitled “Legal Instrument Under the “ASEAN Way” Principle: The Case of ASEAN Convention Against Trafficking in Persons”
  2. Runner-up: Novi Nurmalasari, with thesis paper entitled “US and Japan Response to China’s Dominance on Rare Earth Elements (REE)”
  3. Third place: Chyntia Melinda Gunardi, with thesis paper entitled “The Regional Frenemies: The Dynamic Interplay in Maritime Disputes Between Indonesia and China”
  4. Muhammad Sultan Aidan, “Representation of Women and Feminist Phenomena in the K-Pop Industry: A Shift from Second to Third Generation”
  5. Silvio Hermawan, “Institutionalizing Climate Change in the Forestry and Land-Use Sector: The Case of REDD+ Governance in Indonesia”
  6. Reinaldy Daffaudrey Ammarafi Tjaja, “Factor Analysis of the Defeat of the Afghan Armed Forces Against the Taliban in 2021”
