About the Event
The 13th edition of the ICOBIRD 2024 is set to take place on 28-29 August 2024, embracing a cutting-edge hybrid format for participants worldwide. Centered around the pivotal theme of “Digital Frontiers: The Intersection of SDGs, Technology, and International Relations in Shaping the Modern World” this conference seeks to illuminate the critical role of technology in fostering international relations and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the digital era.
As we navigate through the complexities of the 21st century, marked by the fifth industrial revolution and an unprecedented level of global interconnectedness, the ICOBIRD 2024 provides space for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss emerging IR issues. It underscores the urgency to harness technological innovations for sustainable development, bridging the gaps between technology, advanced and emerging economies and promoting equitable progress of the SDGs.
Embracing Innovation for Global Harmony: This year’s theme delves into how technological advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), information technology, and automation, can significantly influence international dynamics and aid in the achievement of the SDGs. With a special focus on the implications of Industry 5.0 and its transformative impact on global cooperation, the conference aims to chart the course for a future where technology serves as a cornerstone for sustainable development goals and harmonious international relations.
The conference serves as an essential platform for exploring multidisciplinary approaches to understanding and leveraging technology for global good. Through a series of keynote presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, participants will engage with the forefront of IR scholarship, technology’s role in achieving the SDGs, and the broader implications for human security, international political-economics, media studies, and contemporary issues in International Relations.
Uniting for a Sustainable Future: The ICOBIRD 2024 invites contributions that not only reflect on the current state of digital technology in international relations but also envision the future pathways for incorporating technological solutions in achieving the SDGs. The conference is a call to action for the global community to rethink how digital advancements can be optimized for the greater good, ensuring a sustainable, secure, and equitable world for future generations.
The organizing committee extends a warm invitation to researchers, innovators, policymakers, and thought leaders from around the globe to contribute their insights and research findings. We are seeking original, unpublished papers that provide new perspectives on the conference’s themes, with a particular interest in empirical studies, case analyses, and comparative research that spans the globe.
